Before leaving home, always remember to __________. Did the phrase “pack a toothbrush” come to mind? We sure hope so! Caring for your teeth with daily brushing is a habit that will keep your teeth healthier for your entire life. The following tips will help you select a toothbrush that’s right for you. If you would like some additional tips on selecting a toothbrush, feel free to ask us during your next appointment at Bullard Family Dentistry in Bullard, Texas!

Go for toothbrushes with soft bristles. Soft bristles will flex to help you remove leftover food and lodged debris from between your teeth and gums. Also, brushes with small or narrow heads will reach the molars and the difficult-to-clean areas in your mouth more easily.

Always choose the brush that feels good to you. Because every mouth is unique, each toothbrush preference is too. If you feel like your brush hurts your mouth, you need to purchase a new one right away.

Battery-powered brushes can be very effective, but they’re not everyone’s cup of tea. If it’s not for you, traditional toothbrushes still work great! Replace your toothbrushes and toothbrush heads every three months.

When purchasing a toothbrush for your child, look for one that is child-sized; large, regular brushes can damage children’s teeth and gums.
