When a large cavity goes without professional treatment by dentists like Dr. Denison and Dr. Allen, the complications can be uncomfortable. As time goes by, the tooth decay could penetrate deep into the root of the tooth. As this happens, you might experience heightened sensitivity and increasing toothache pain.

Drs. Denison and Allen might be able to treat a tooth with an infected root with endodontic therapy. If the infection has spread to cause a severe abscess our dentists might recommend a total extraction. Once your gums have healed and all traces of infection have cleared, they can then replace the tooth’s presence with a dental bridge.

This will replace the missing tooth with one single piece of dental work. It will eventually be anchored onto abutments formed from the core of the two neighboring teeth.

Your dentists will start removing most of the tooth enamel from the two neighboring teeth, leaving behind two post-shaped pillars of healthy dentin. A detailed impression will be created of the area and the related teeth in your bite pattern. This will be sent to our off-site dental lab where skilled technicians will create your dental bridge.

You will need to return to Bullard Family Dentistry when your dental bridge is ready. Drs. Denison and Allen will cement it onto the abutments with a strong dental adhesive. This will fully restore the tooth’s form and function in your mouth for many years ahead.

If you live in the Bullard, Texas, area and you have a tooth suffering from a severe cavity, you should call 903-710-2309 to seek treatment with Dr. J. Brandon Allen.
