Kids are notorious for not being as vigilant in their oral health routines as they should be. That’s largely because they don’t think brushing is fun. However, there are a few very simple things you can do as a parent to help make brushing a fun activity that your children look forward to. In addition to creating less tension in your home, it’ll help your kids have better oral health.

Let’s look at the tips that our team here at Bullard Family Dentistry in Bullard, Texas recommends you use to make brushing a fun activity for your children.

Let them pick

If you make brushing teeth a special moment, kids will enjoy it more often. To make it special, you can let your kids pick their own toothbrush, so it’s something they look forward to using each night. That’s also a good idea for toothpaste, as well. If your kids have favorite flavors or cartoon characters, there’s a high chance you can find that toothpaste for sale at your local grocery store.

Offer rewards

If your kids are proving particularly troublesome at brushing time, then you may want to offer them rewards for brushing their teeth. While this isn’t ideal, it’ll help you get your kids into an established oral health routine – which will save you a lot of money in the long run when you don’t have to pay to have cavities filled.
