An effective oral hygiene routine is absolutely critical for maintaining good oral health. Poor oral hygiene promotes tooth decay, gum disease, and could lead to other serious issues. Maintaining good oral health has several factors that Bullard Family Dentistry would like to share.
Bullard Family Dentistry recommends brushing your teeth twice each day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and an abrasive toothpaste. A toothpaste with added fluoride is also helpful for strengthening your tooth enamel.
When flossing, you want to make sure to work the floss between your teeth as well as into the gum line to remove food particles and plaque from areas your toothbrush can’t clean. If you’ve had problems working the floss between your teeth, you might want to use a waxed variety. The waxy coating helps the strand slip easily between teeth and into hard to reach places.
Once you’re done brushing and flossing can then rinse your mouth with antiseptic mouthwash to kill bacteria and freshen your breath. Just keep in mind that antiseptic mouthwash cannot replace the effectiveness of floss.
Your regular dental checkup at Bullard Family Dentistry will clean any hardened tartar while also detecting early signs of tooth decay, gum disease and oral cancer.
